In most cases, the IP addresses used by your ISP's domain name servers are automatically set by your ISP via the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP). To use another DNS server (Google Public DNS, OpenDNS, etc) you need to explicitly change this setting on your local router.
Misrouting may occur if you use a different DNS server (e.g. GoogleDNS, OpenDNS) than those provided by your ISP. If you suspect misrouting, confirm your DNS settings on your router match those provided by your ISP. This applies for all SHIELD devices (SHIELD Android TV, SHIELD Tablet, and SHIELD Portable)
" Under Apps -> Network Settings -> Either Wi-Fi|Ethernet -> Advanced Options -> IP Settings -> Select "Static" and follow the steps on the screen to set up Static IPs.
" When you get to the DNS screen, this can be obtained from your local router setting -> WAN Settings page.
" In summary, configure your SHIELD device to have Static IP + ISP DNS settings.
